Haunting finds the listener in a place of imbalance and takes them on a complex and disruptive journey to an eventual place of calm. Through three experimental soundscapes, it moves from disjointment to exploration and contemplation to massive readjustment.

For recent live shows, I prepped a set that took advantage of being able to perform live in physical spaces. I wanted the room or space to became a part of the performance, something I could react to and fill with sound. The sets were much less heavy on the percussive side than I often create. They focused more on ambience and filling space with emotive and contemplative sound in a real world environment.

Haunting is a recorded interpretation of this work. The live sets all varied, but each was performed using the same hardware setup, routing and patches. Sequences and melodic progressions and sonic journeys could change each time. This interpretation is mixed differently, looking to convey the same intention and sonic journey, but replacing the interaction of sound within a performance space with subtle but complex sonic interactions in an abstract aphysical experience.

Haunting is not passive listening, nor is it comforting.

A quiet dark room and substantial volume are recommended.
